Using a VLT frequency converter, the
cooling tower fan speed can be controlled to maintain the optimal
condenser water temperature. Drives can also be used to stage
additional fans on and off as needed in multi-cell towers.
As the speed of the cooling tower fan is reduced below a minimum
level, the may fan become ineffective in cooling the water. Gearbox
driven tower fans require a minimum speed for gearbox lubrication.
An adjustable frequency drive offers a programmable minimum
